CHRISTIAN YOUTH THEATER WICHITA FALL 2010 OFFERINGS

CLASSES are held Thursdays beginning August 26, 2010. Classes run 2 hours in length and are designed to provide instruction in the 3 core principles of musical theater: drama, voice and dance. Future more advanced classes may require each core as a prerequisite.
A SHOWCASE performance will be held Friday, October 29, 2010.

CLASS LOCATION is at First Evangelical Free Church at 1825 N. Woodlawn, Wichita 67208

REGISTRATION fees for classes are $135 early bird and $145 after August 1, 2010

REGISTRATION FORMS may be downloaded and filled out.

AUDITONS for Tom Sawyer will be held Friday, Auguest 27, 2010. Those enrolled in a Fall Class ages 8-18 are eligible but not required to audition.

CLASS THEME: GLEE CYT STYLE!

CLASS OFFERED FOR AGES 5-7 at 4:30-6:30pm
This age group is not eligible to audition for the session production.

“Mickey Mouse Club”
Join the M-I-C, K-E-Y, M-O-U-S-E Club! This high-energy class introduces children to the fundamentals of theater using songs, drama games, skits, and theater fun with Mickey and his friends! Our Gang classes are designed to build self-confidence and stimulate imagination.

CLASS OFFERED FOR AGES 8-12 at 4:30-6:30pm
Sign up for these classes early as full enrollment is anticipated!

“Balladeers” - Voice Core
Bring others joy by learning how to make the most of your vocal abilities in this Music Core class. Class teaches the basic ways to sound good and look good while you're performing great music. Students will be taught the basics of singing technique, receive training in how to use their voices correctly, and how to have a confident audition.

“Vitamin D’ance” - Dance Core
Ever just find yourself tappin’ your toe or movin’ to the music? Stage movement is expression through exciting styles of dance bringing life to a scene. This Core Dance class teaches beginning forms movement, including tap and jazz, producing skills used throughout many musicals in American theater.
-Jazz or Ballet shoes as well as tap shoes are recommended

“Club Glee CYT Style” - Drama Core
This Core Drama class explores the fundamentals of acting, staging, movement and interpretation. Students will participate in the Showcase as participants in our own version of a choir club “Glee CYT Style”. Class instruction may include elements of improvisation, pantomime and readers' theater.

“Vocal Adrenaline” - Vocal 201 Prerequisites: Voice Core & Drama Core
Sing with glee to musical mash-ups. Students will learn Acapella, Ballad, Character, Opener and Closer song types and be part of a melody or harmony group. Students will experience the joy of integrating a solo into a song with a back up choir with choreography.

CLASSES OFFERED FOR AGES 12-18 at 7:00-9:00pm

“Don’t Stop Believin’!” - Dance Core
ancing with glee requires exciting group choreography which entices you to keep practicing new steps in order to keep up with the group. Step up and dance with glee to CYT Mash up vocals! Core Dance teaches beginning forms of movement, including tap and jazz, producing skills used throughout many musicals in American theater.

“Smile. Imagine. Believe.” - Improv 201 Prerequisites: Drama Core & Voice Core
Rehearse without a script? Work a theater scene with no idea of what comes next? This intermediate level class teaches the skill of reacting to other actors in spontaneous, unrehearsed scenes using conflict, contrast, physical positions and props. You will also explore character traits and background in learning the importance of improvisation for developing acting skills.
